Il matrimonio di una principessa, Maria Clotilde di Savoia trasformato in fil-rouge per raccontare la storia franco-italiana dal luglio 1858 al gennaio 1861 e i cambiamenti, politico epocali per la Francia, il Regno di Sardegna, la penisola italica, l’Europa, l’Africa e l’America, con i Nordisti e i Sudisti, impegnati nella Guerra di secessione. Un matrimonio che spinse il marito, il principe francese Napoleon Joseph, già attento alla causa italiano e amico di patrioti, a offrire pubblico sostegno ai Savoia per la conquista dell’Italia, anche nel lungo e tragico assedio di Gaeta.

La Biblioteca, l'Archivio e la Sala Conferenze si trovano al primo piano di Palazzo Moriggia, attualmente non son accessibili a persone con disabilità motoria. Sono però in corso lavori di superamento delle barriere architettoniche. Il Museo del Risorgimento si trova a piano terra di Palazzo Moriggia. E' presente una rampa di accesso di pendenza 20% e una rampa di salita di pendenza 26,3%. All'interno del museo non son presenti dislivelli. La sala espositiva (sala vetri) ha una rampa di accesso con pendenza 16,5% e non presenta all'interno dislivelli. Il bagno riservato alle persone con disabilità è ubicato in cortile.
