Jimeh Saleh

Jimeh Saleh runs Amana Inclusive Technology Initiative, a non-profit organization aimed making Artificial Intelligence accessible in local African languages to journalists and other marginalised groups. He was also recently the Editor of the landmark partnership project between the BBC and the MacArthur Foundation, overseeing the production and distribution of the popular BBC Hausa town halls (A Fada A Cika) on political accountability.



Jimeh's BBC career began over a decade ago as a multimedia journalist, rising to become Editor of the BBC Hausa Service in London. His leadership brought editorial innovation and significant digital growth. He introduced the BBC Hausa annual short story writing competition for women, and was also a diversity and culture champion at the BBC. He holds a BA (Hons) in Mass Communication and an MA in Journalism (awarded with distinction) from the London Metropolitan University. He was born and raised in Maiduguri, in northeastern Nigeria.
